Cake Pop[sicles]

cakepopsicles%2B006 Cake Pop[sicles]Cake pops/cake balls/cake truffles/whatever you want to call cake crumbs and frosting mashed together are an ingenius fad! Because bakeries can charge money for cute balls of cake scraps and leftover frosting- really, smarter than the cupcake thing, the frozen yogurt thing, the food truck thing, and the next food fad thing.

cakepopsicles%2B016 Cake Pop[sicles]After trimming and frosting the mermaid/underwater cake in the previous post below, I had loads of leftover pink cake, chocolate cake, cream filling and buttercream. The solution? Cake popsicles! Because that frozen mush of cake crumbs and frosting really does taste amazing frozen and is funner to eat on a popsicle stick icon wink Cake Pop[sicles]

These were made the exact same way as cake pops/cake truffles- by turning the cake scraps into crumbs (I used a food processor) and adding frosting a bit at a time until it became solid enough to mold. I shaped the cake into popsicle shapes, stuck a large popsicle stick through them and let them chill out in the freezer on a wax paper lined cookie sheet. After a couple hours they were solid enough to dip into chocolate, sprinkles, nuts, and anything else that you can think of.

Store these in the freezer and try them cold- after all, they are popsicles icon smile Cake Pop[sicles] cakepopsicles%2B017 Cake Pop[sicles]

A couple of pints of sweetness to make your day

photo 69 A couple of pints of sweetness to make your day
I’ve been intent on keeping a good sized harvest of peaches away from the squirrels  this year. Last year they left us only three fruits for the whole season. So, this year, twice a day, I’m out there picking every peach that is even remotely ripe.
They are small, but sweet and juicy.
And so far, I’ve gotten more than the squirrels, who sit on a nearby stump with single stolen peaches, eating quietly while I make off with an apron full of fruit.
They are less than pleased that I am taking their private stash.
This morning, I brought in a couple of pounds of little peaches and decided I’d like a little jam with my toast and set about learning a new skill.
So let’s get into a little jam, shall we?
I used peaches, but I suppose whatever fleshy fruit you have on hand would work as well.
This recipe is for the couple of pounds of fruit I had, but you can easily double or triple the amounts.
Fresh Off the Tree Peach Jam

2 pounds of ripe peaches
1/4 c. granulated sugar and another 3 cups later
1 (1 3/4 oz.) pkg. lite powdered fruit pectin
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1 teaspoon of butter (not margarine)
2 1-pint canning jars
  • Chop the peaches into nearly a mush.

  • In a medium sized pot, combine peaches and lemon juice.

  • Combine the pectin and 1/4 cup sugar; stir that into the peach mixture.

  • Add the butter (this reduces foaming during cooking. I’ve read).

  • Bring this mixture to a full rolling boil, stirring constantly.

  • Stir in the other 3 cups of sugar. Return it to a full rolling boil…again, stirring constantly.

  • Remove the pot from the heat and skim off any foam.

  • Ladle your jam into clean sterilized jars, leaving 1/4″  between the jar and the jam.

  • Clean rims of the jars and place lids on jars and processing in a hot water bath 5 minutes.

Vegetarian.

Is Your Brain Mush As A New Entrepreneur?

Is Your Brain Mush As a New Entrepreneur?

Either you are agreeing with this as a new entrepreneur or you are laughing because you are more seasoned as an internet marketer and had been there.

Do You Remember…

I remember starting out as a new entrepreneur as an internet marker and thinking ok, this should be a piece of cake. I started out learning this and that, just scraping the ice of every aspects as an internet marketer. I started out watching a few webinars, then a few conference calls, then trying to read every email from every “expert” I came across. I was bound and determined to learned this field and be successful. I made a promise to myself I would not be a 97% failure. I dug in more learning PPC, SEO, Social Media, RSS Feeds, bookmarking, video marketing, reading books, buying this course and that course. I even went as far to learn some HTML code to help my team and I have cleaner websites on WordPress. I was living in the office with both computers going, and when I had to go somewhere I was online with my Blackberry.

You Are Not Alone

When you first started out as I did it is normal to feel overwhelmed as a new internet marketer, we have all been there. To be completely honest, there are times you will find seasoned entrepreneurs get overwhelmed as new stuff comes out or they mastermind with others. I can only suggest you reach out to your sponsor and ask them for guidance and three big nuggets. See, I am a three nugget guy! I want things kept simple and easy. For example, I ask people do you like to write or to make videos. If they like to write, my three nuggets would be something like:

1. Article Writing- Learn it, live it, Love it! Write 3 to 4 articles per day for 90 days. Then submit to 5 to 7 websites and learn about keywords. Article Writing also allows you to brand yourself, just make sure that your articles are pertinent to the field you are in, also don’t try to write articles on 50 different subjects. Find a niche and build upon it, as you focus on a niche you will become a known expert and this will attract individuals to you.

2. Build a Blog -Use Word Press and build your blog. Add content everyday that is relevant to your internet marketing business. This is how you will be able to start branding yourself as a person, how you educate the world on who you are and what makes you tick. While we are all unique, we attract people like ourselves which allow us to build long lasting and meaningful relationships.

3. Personal Development- Read one leadership self help book or inspirational book per week. Then write an article in your own words about what you felt, learned, and obtained from the book. As a good friend of mine named Andrew Cass says “No new skills means no new money”. While you may be learning something new, what you do with that information is the key to success.

Remember Why You Became an Entrepreneur

While I give “guidance” to others on how to become successful, remember why you became an entrepreneur; freedom and money! I do not give assignments to anyone on my team, they are their own boss, and they don’t work for me. Don’t expect your sponsor to tell you what to do and when to do it, but also don’t try to do everything on your own, especially if you are just starting in a new field. Pick a few avenues like Article Marketing, Press Releases, and maybe Social Marketing. Just remember there are so many forms of entertainment (distractions), don’t get caught up shooting a video then watching videos for the next 6 hours.

In closing, I would just like to say don’t get lost in the marketing world. Don’t try to accomplish everything overnight! Don’t sign up for every last EBook, program, or new idea online. Focus on what you are learning and surround yourself with the people that are being successful, mastermind with people that are successful and learn from them. Rome was not built in one day, nor will your business.

Your friend and coach,
Robert
