Is Your Brain Mush As A New Entrepreneur?

Is Your Brain Mush As a New Entrepreneur?

Either you are agreeing with this as a new entrepreneur or you are laughing because you are more seasoned as an internet marketer and had been there.

Do You Remember…

I remember starting out as a new entrepreneur as an internet marker and thinking ok, this should be a piece of cake. I started out learning this and that, just scraping the ice of every aspects as an internet marketer. I started out watching a few webinars, then a few conference calls, then trying to read every email from every “expert” I came across. I was bound and determined to learned this field and be successful. I made a promise to myself I would not be a 97% failure. I dug in more learning PPC, SEO, Social Media, RSS Feeds, bookmarking, video marketing, reading books, buying this course and that course. I even went as far to learn some HTML code to help my team and I have cleaner websites on WordPress. I was living in the office with both computers going, and when I had to go somewhere I was online with my Blackberry.

You Are Not Alone

When you first started out as I did it is normal to feel overwhelmed as a new internet marketer, we have all been there. To be completely honest, there are times you will find seasoned entrepreneurs get overwhelmed as new stuff comes out or they mastermind with others. I can only suggest you reach out to your sponsor and ask them for guidance and three big nuggets. See, I am a three nugget guy! I want things kept simple and easy. For example, I ask people do you like to write or to make videos. If they like to write, my three nuggets would be something like:

1. Article Writing- Learn it, live it, Love it! Write 3 to 4 articles per day for 90 days. Then submit to 5 to 7 websites and learn about keywords. Article Writing also allows you to brand yourself, just make sure that your articles are pertinent to the field you are in, also don’t try to write articles on 50 different subjects. Find a niche and build upon it, as you focus on a niche you will become a known expert and this will attract individuals to you.

2. Build a Blog -Use Word Press and build your blog. Add content everyday that is relevant to your internet marketing business. This is how you will be able to start branding yourself as a person, how you educate the world on who you are and what makes you tick. While we are all unique, we attract people like ourselves which allow us to build long lasting and meaningful relationships.

3. Personal Development- Read one leadership self help book or inspirational book per week. Then write an article in your own words about what you felt, learned, and obtained from the book. As a good friend of mine named Andrew Cass says “No new skills means no new money”. While you may be learning something new, what you do with that information is the key to success.

Remember Why You Became an Entrepreneur

While I give “guidance” to others on how to become successful, remember why you became an entrepreneur; freedom and money! I do not give assignments to anyone on my team, they are their own boss, and they don’t work for me. Don’t expect your sponsor to tell you what to do and when to do it, but also don’t try to do everything on your own, especially if you are just starting in a new field. Pick a few avenues like Article Marketing, Press Releases, and maybe Social Marketing. Just remember there are so many forms of entertainment (distractions), don’t get caught up shooting a video then watching videos for the next 6 hours.

In closing, I would just like to say don’t get lost in the marketing world. Don’t try to accomplish everything overnight! Don’t sign up for every last EBook, program, or new idea online. Focus on what you are learning and surround yourself with the people that are being successful, mastermind with people that are successful and learn from them. Rome was not built in one day, nor will your business.

Your friend and coach,
Robert

Food Matters

food matters Food MattersI’m a pretty delinquent member of the Kitchen Reader- I’ve probably read about half of what the others have read. However, the group is great- they make wonderful choices of food related books. Great tales of relationships with food. Then I went a choose a book about healthy conscious eating. I may not be popular among the group now, but I’ve always loved reading books about where food comes from, trends in the US, strategies to improve health through your diet, and impact of our food systems on the world.

Food Matters by Mark Bittman is a pretty sensible approach to your daily food needs. He lays out where your food comes from and the impact on the environment. Generally, it is pretty concerning. For example:

  • Between 1995 and 2005, the number of chickens world-wide destined to be eaten rose by 14 billion
  • Livestock produce more greenhouse gas than the emissions caused by transportation
  • Meat consumption would have to fall 3 oz a day to stabilize greenhouse gases produced by livestock
  • 50% of the antibiotics administered in the US go to animals

Ew. However, Bittman doesn’t suggest any radical changes. He simply encourages people to a adopt a diet similar to what helped him feel better (both physically and about his impact). This includes eating fewer animal products. I don’t eat a lot of animal products, so this isn’t a big change for me. Veggies are delicious and the less processed food you eat, the more your crave good for you foods- at least in my experience.

I enjoyed the recipes in the book. I made a vegetable and grain torta that was pretty delish. Most of the recipes are open ended- letting you choose your grain and sub in or out meat and cheese. There are many more recipes on my list to try, expect to see a few of them here. This book is worth a read- at the very least to help you think twice about eating meat at every meal.

Building a Healthy Easter Basket

Making a fun and healthy Easter basket may seem like an oxymoron with all the delicious hundreds of choices of Easter candies and goodies. With the number of overweight children up in America and lots other areas in the world, searching for healthier choices this Easter is a top priority for many people. If you want to go healthier this year, check out these methods for some Easter basket fillers with fewer calories and fat.

Building a Healthy Basket Suggestion #1

Pick toys instead of snacks. A lot of baskets have some toys, in the past goodies generally are the items that filled the basket the most. This year, try more toys and less goodies. Kids will tell you they can never have enough toys and they will last longer and give kids something fun to do all year long. You can find many items on sale so that these gifts don’t cost an arm and a leg. Check the dollar stores and discount stores for smaller yet fun play things. Kids love getting crayons, small reading books and stickers. You can generally find these items for a dollar or less. Other suggestions are small hand-held electronic games, card games or dolls and action figures. Another favorite for the kids is a cute stuffed Easter animal. You can usually find these adorable stuffed toys on sale just days before Easter.

Building a Healthy Basket Suggestion #2

Choose alternatives to candy. Boxed dried fruits can replace the typical jelly beans. Snacks like these provide a juicy sweetness without the added fat and calories. Plus there is the added plus of vitamins and nutrients your kids need. Buy some raisins, dried apricots or even Craisins® from Ocean Spray®. Craisins® are dried sweet cranberry goodies that come in several flavors. You can also get some yogurt and chocolate covered raisins for a bit of an added flavor and fun for your kids.

Building a Healthy Basket Suggestion #3

You don’t have to give up the candy all together. After all this is suppose to be a fun day and children expect some special treats that Easter bunny brings. It’s okay to add some candy to their basket. Instead of super-sizing it, go snack size instead. Add a few snack sized candy bars, chocolate eggs and other fun treats. Just watch the candy intake and spread these little goodies out. Use dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate. Dark chocolate is actually good for us. The dark chocolate provides antioxidants and is a healthier candy choice. Look for the goodies that are lower in calories but still give the sweet taste for your children

Building a Healthy Basket Suggestion #4

Homemade treats are another great way to make your baskets healthier. You can make cupcakes and alter the recipe to reduce the fat. Add apple sauce instead of oil and try some sugar substitute to supplement and reduce the refined sugars. Get creative with these healthier snacks and make fun Easter shaped treats for some great family fun. Try Rice Krispy treats® and use cookie cutters to cut them into fun bunny shapes, Easter eggs and other Easter shapes. Bake up some sugar cookies with a sugar substitute and top them with melted dark chocolate or peanut butter instead of frosting.

Going healthy with your Easter baskets is not only good for you but can be a fun family activity. Other fun ideas for Easter are to do some kids crafts with the whole family. You can even make your own Easter baskets.
